2021 MID Jan Update

 Happy new year everyone! How's the new year treating you so far? Mine has been really busy as we welcome our 2nd child late Dec 2020. Sometimes I really wonder, is raising a child really that costly, or is it costly simply because of what the parents want, and think that are essential for the kid? Everyone is always citing that raising a child in Sg is costly. I feel that its not a very fair accusation. 

To us, raising a child is not that expensive. It's true that formula cost a bomb..but the baby drinks and eat nothing except for milk, spending 200-300 per month on the baby is fine i guess? He/she is human just like us.  Everyone is always citing formula being expensive. There's alot of different brands out there, you dont have to go with the atas branded ones. The price difference can be as much as 30-40percent. So dont blame the baby, blame it on your own mentality.

I also have friends who spent 2k on the kids enrichment classes monthly. I asked my friend if the kid likes it, he said no idea, but his wife likes it. What...?? I mean, we survived and thrived without going for ultra expensive enrichment, are these classes really useful or just hypes? To me, if the kid really likes it, ill send them if they enjoy themselves and at the same time we can have our own free time! Haha. But, if the kids dont like it..why waste the money..

Buying clothes for the infant or toddler. If u buy 1 from the retail shop here, it can easily set you back 20-30 SGD. We buy 99% of the clothes from Taobao. for 30 dollars i can get 6 roampers that look way better than the 30 SGD one. Dont find excuse that you dont understand chinese, you can easily get them through ezbuy or lazada, albeit a little more expensive but defintiely not 30 dollars per roamper expensive. End of the day, the clothings are not going to last them more than a year, especially infant clothings. 

The real expensive thing about raising a kid is going to doctors. That we totally agree. Especially for kids below 1 year old when normal GP dont really dare to give medicine. And some PDs dont even want to prescribe medicine. We have met 1 who said she believe in natural healing. My kid has been coughing for like months.. Yeah, actual medically trained PD with 1 of the established PD chain in Singapore. Then why become a doctor??? Natural heal for everything can liao.

On the investment side of things, seems like we are in a bull run again. Anyhow buy, anyhow huat. I have swapped out my crypto from ripple to ETH after the former's Saga with the SEC.
